To the Surrogate of the Coounty of Delaware:

The Petition of William K. Riddle of the town of Davenport in the County of Delaware, respectfully showeth:

That your Petitioner is the son of Sarah Riddle late of the town of Davenport in the said County of Delaware, now deceased; that the said deceased died on or about the 30th day of Mrch in thie year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four; that at or immediately preceding the time of her death, she was an inhabitant of the said County of Delaware; that she has left no Will, as far as your Petitioner has been able to discover; That the said deceased left, the following named heirs & next of kin - viz - Children (illegible) your Petitioner. Nancy Riddle, Mrs. Jane Matthews of Davenport (illegible), Abigail Smith of the town of Imlay, Lapeer County, Michigan, Mary Courter (sic; 1870 census has Corter [p 8] [http://epiphyte.libofmich.lib.mi.us/CensusImages/Roll684/128R.pdf] ) of the town of Goodland, Lapeer Co., Michigan, Robert Riddle of the town of Imlay, Lapeer Co., Michigan, & James Riddle of the town of Almont, Lapeer Co., Michigan & all of said heirs are over 21 years old; that she was a widow.

That in the opinion of your Petitioner.. the whole amount of the personal property left by the said deceased, was about 25 Dollars.

Your petitioner ..therefore prays that Leters of Administration upon the estate of the said deceased may be granted to him that the said deceased had for some time been under the control of a committee which (renderith?) desirable that Letters of Administration may be granted to enable them to make a settlement.
