NUTT - I am in search of information on my Great-Grandfather. My father Larry D. Smith has been doing a family tree search on and off for many years now however, he keeps running into brick walls when it comes to information on his Grandfather. The only information that we have on him and I'm not so sure that all is correct is as follows. Name- James Charles Nutt born in Bristol, England in or around 1885 we were told that he was born on December 15,1885 (not sure thats correct) He was supposed to have come over to the United States in 1906, shortly before his 21st B-day. Again, not sure this information is correct due to my finding a transcript of immigrant ships on the SS Britannic on December 15,1888, there was a 9 month old infant listed by the name of J. Nutt. Not sure wheather or not this is my ggfather, but, the name and the dates either match up or are real close. anyhow, while over here he married a women by the name of Jessie (maiden name) Chrissy, they had 5 children Eva, Rena, Henry, Behaula and Lillian-being my grandmother and my fathers mother. James and his wife jessie lived in Centerville, N.Y. James worked at a mill in East Branch, N.Y. and on July 14,1922 while at work there was a young women drowning in the Delaware River. my G-Grandfather being the only one to jump in to help the women, died saving her life. apparently she was panicking as he was attempting to save her and she kicked him in the head causing him to fall unconscious, however he was able to get her safely to shore before going under and drowning himself. his wife Jessie recieved the Andrew Carnegie Hero award in his Honor. Anyone with any information, PLEASE help it would be so greatly appreciated. Belinda Smith - posted 05-99
