JACKSON - My query concerns the relationship of Isaiah Jackson, b 1763 in Sharon, Litchfield, Connecticut and married to Amaree Baldwin about 1775 to Zerah Jackson, b 1773 in Cornwall, Litchfield, Connecticut and married to Mary Munger in 1797. Isaiah and Ameree settled in Franklin in 1804. Zerah and Mary, together with Medad Jackson (b 1786), Eldad (b 1788) and their families settled in Franklin in 1810 east of Croton and near Meredith. Isaiah is said to be the son of Stephen Jackson and Lydia Quitterfield, who were married in Sharon on 17 Jan 1754. Some have alleged that Isaiah and Amaree are the parents of Zerah but this seems most unlikely. Nonetheless there does seem to be a close linkage between them, perhaps brothers, close enough that in 1895 Zerah's grandson, James Knox Polk Jackson asserts Zerah, Medad and Eldad were brothers.

JOHNSON - I am attempting to track down what is possible on the Ensign Samuel Johnson family who, according to Delaware history settled in Delaware County in 1787. Munsell’s History of Delaware County New York, states that “Before 1800 Samuel Johnson settled where Mr. Wright lives, by the “trestle”, and set out the orchard now to be seen there.” Could you or someone in the area identify where this site might be found today? I’ve driven through the region in the past, however I live in southwestern Montana so I’m far from intimately familiar with the location! I’d like to be able to describe the location so other members of our family would have a better idea where to look when visiting Delaware County.
Another question I have is with regard to Ensign Samuel and his wife’s burial site. I have gone through the available records I have found, but find nothing as to their burials. I know that Samuel’s wife died prior to his 1819 marriage in Walton, and I know that Samuel died in Walton on 10 February 1826. I’m assuming both were buried in Walton, but have found no record of either. Ensign Samuel’s 1819 wife, Rebecca Weed, died in Stamford, Connecticut at the home of her niece, on 30 April 1853.
Also, I have a question I’m wondering if any record in Delaware County might be able to answer. Dutchess County records show that Ensign Samuel Johnson married MARY Penoyer in Amenia, NY on 13 June 1765 (by Roswell Hopkins). Sam’s Revolutionary War Pension file shows that he was a resident of Amenia before and after his Revolutionary Service. The 1895 Leading Citizen’s of Delaware County indicates that Ensign Samuel Johnson and his wife SARAH Penoyer came from Dutchess County to Delaware County with their ten children .... To date I’ve found no marriage record for SARAH and Sam, and I’m wondering if anything in the Delaware County records might have her birth date or something that is dated that gives her age.
My own connection to Ensign Samuel is through his son, Samuel Junior, who is buried in Sand Hill Cemetery near Unidilla, Otsego County, NY. It appears his entire family left soon after Samuel Junior’s death in 1820, but his father and some of his siblings remained in Delaware County. Samuel Junior’s widow and several of their children lived in western New York for a number of years and some ultimately resettled to various locations in the western states. One of their daughters (my great-great-grandmother) is buried about fifty miles from where I live. The Mrs. Samuel Johnson buried in the Sand Hill Cemetery appears to have been a spouse of one of Ensign Samuel’s grandsons, though I’ve not yet determined which one.
I’ve managed to track down my immediate family connection to Ensign Samuel, but would like to learn enough about my Johnson’s and Penoyer’s that they can be further tracked. I will be happy to share the data once I have it compiled if you would like to add it to your collection.

JUDD - I have been trying to trace the life of my ancestor Rev. Benjamin Judd and his two daughters who lived in Delaware County. I have found that he was the Pastor in several Presbyterian and Congregational churches in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York. Then, sometime after 1804 he moved his family west into New York. The 1820 US Federal Census shows him and his wife living in Bainbridge, Chenango County, NY.
Rev. Benjamin Judd was the father in the following family:
Father: Benjamin Judd B: 8 June 1755 Waterbury, New Haven, CT D: 1834 in Yates County, NY
Mother: Sybil Davis B: About 1758 Watertown, Litchfield, CT D: 1836 in Yates County, NY
Children: Daniel Davis Judd B: About 1777 Lenox, Berkshire, MA D: 20 May 1785 in Lenox, MA
Lucy Judd B: About 1781 or 1784 Lenox, Berkshire, MA D: 26 March 1859 in Delaware County, NY
Nancy Judd B: About 1783 Lenox, Berkshire, MA D: After 1850 in Steuben County, NY
Wealthy Judd B: July 1785 Ware, Hampden, MA D: After 1850 in Steuben County, NY
Bethsheba Judd B: 20 October 1789 Pound Ridge, Dutchess, NY D: 17 August 1841 in Delaware County, NY
His two daughters, Lucy (1786-1859) and Bethsheba (1789-1841), married and settled in Delaware County. Lucy Judd is said to have married James Stiles (1784-1865), and they are both buried in the Stilesville Cemetery in Deposit. Bethsheba Judd is said to have married Calvin Chamberlin (1773-1853), and probably buried in Cannonsville.
I would like to gain information about Rev. Benjamin Judd and the families of his two daughters.

JUSTICK - Does anyone have more information on, or have leads as to where I can get more information, regarding one Antonek Justick buried at Potters Field ; does anyone perhaps have contact info regarding the name(s) of the person(s) submitting the information on Antonek Justick as appears on the
'Potter's Field - Delaware County NY' section of the county geneology website (this part of the site is basically a memorial to the people buried at Potter's Field). Also note that Antotek's name appears redundantly / incorrectly as 'Antonet Yustick' later in the alphabetical burial listing at that site [interestingly, that last name is spelled in a manner which, when pronounced, is closer to the original pronunciation of the family name -- according to some members of the family Justick.
