LETTER F

FAGAN - I have a good amount of information on the Fagan family (1800's) in Delaware, but am stumped at one point- Harpersfield patent land records. The earliest person in the Fagan line, Daniel Fagan, received a lot of land from one Molly Fagan in 1820. Land record stated: "lot NO.169 patent of Harperfield and easternmost line patent of Kortright". I think this Molly is Daniel's mother, so I'm trying to figure out how she (or her mystery husband) received the lot prior to 1820. There are only a few Fagans in NY in the early 1800's and none in Delaware, per the census. Is it possible to find out who held that lot prior to 1820. I believe the Harpersfield land Patent was created about 1769.Marc Raphael - posted 09-2014

FERRY - I am in search of information on my 3xgreat grandfather Ebenezer Lewis Ferry (b27 Jun 1820 possibly in Otego/Otsego Co - 21 Jun 1889 Masonvile Pioneer Cemetery). My only refereces are this site, the 1995 book Masonville: Early Records from the Past, and Find-A-Grave cemetery records. I know that Ebenezer married Samantha Caroline Brown and have her ancesters fairly well delineated. I also know that Ebenezer's parents were Achsa Smith (25 May 1788 - 22 Nov 1861 Masonville Pioneer Cem) and Deacon? Aron (or Aaron) Ferry (20 Feb 1784 Chicopee MA - 7 Mar 1857 Masonville Pioneer Cem), and think that maybe his parents were Lewis Ferry (5 Dec 1757 Springfield MA - 9 Aug 1842 ) and Elizabeth Fuller from Ludlow City MA. (date and place of death unknown). The fact that what appears to be 3 generations of Ferry (Lewis b 1757, Aron 1784 and Ebenezer Lewis 1820) along with the wifes of Aaron and Ebenezer all are in the same Pioneer Cem plot and that various family members are listed on several NYS and US census makes it seem like Lewis is Aron's father. I'd appreciate any information helping confirm that Lewis was Aron's father and that Elizabeth Fuller (possibly a Mayflower descendant?) was Lewis' wife. John Schatzel- posted 03-2012

FLANSBURG - In 1824 Matthew Flansburg & his wife Cornelia - probably Cornelia Winne - are shown with (4) children in District #1, Delaware Co School, West end of the town of Davenport - while they may have lived near Milford, (Matthew is shown there on the 1830 census). The schoolhouse is on the Oneonta Line, Old Rt #23, near Swart Hollow Rd. The 1820 census of Cherry Valley, Otsego Co, NY shows that their children were three boys under age 10 & (1) girl under age 10, in 1820. These are the children that were between the ages of 5-15 in 1824 & in school in Davenport, Delaware Co, in 1824. Matthew was on a trustee of the school board in 1828. If anyone has anything that would show the names of the children, please let me know. My GG Grandfather William Flansburg was born 1813, near the Cherry Valley, Otsego Co, NY where Matthew's family lived in 1820 census, then he attended Davenport Schools, where Matthew's family attended in 1824, met Mary Follett, dau of John Follett & Lydia Read in Roxbury & they were married in 1838 or 1839. I am trying to find out for sure if William is one of Matthew's children as seems to be the case. We know Matthew had a dau Catherine who married John Davenport, for whom the town of Davenport was named. Matthew & Catherine Flansburg Davenport are both listed on the 1880 census in Davenport - Matthew was 88 yrs old. The first year that HIstorian Sally Beam has found students names listed on the school list was 1849. The list then shows Parker, as the son of Matthew - he was age 13. The 1850 census shows him living with (2) sons, Parker & Nathan, but we have no idea when Nathan was born...before or after 1820. Also, a daughter named Elizabeth married Stephen Craft. Flansburg expert Darrin Flansburg also shows a son Matthew born 1823 - that may be the Matthew Flansburg listed in the Civil War, from Milford, on the Delaware pages - since that is where Matthew Sr. lived in 1830. Darin also shows a son Elias born about 1835. Looking for anything that would show the names of Matthews children as confirmation that William born 1813 was one of his sons. Lynda & B.J. FULLER - I have successfully traced my ancestry to Elihu Fuller who migrated to Delaware County from Fishkill, Dutchess County about 1805. His last son, Richard M. Fuller, was born in Bovina May 6, 1807. Elihu was married to Eliza Purdy in 1872 in Fishkill. She was the daughter of Jesse Purdy an American Revolution veteran. From his Will and Census data I conclude that he remarried some time before 1830. In his Will his wife is Mary and the 1840 census shows her to be 40-50 years of age, when Eliza would have been about 70. There was also a young girl in the household 15-20 years of age. His Will indicates her name was Sally. I am not sure whether she came into the household with her mother, or might have been his child, probably the former. Sally had apparently died in childbirth before Elihu died in 1848, for he mentions a "Mary Robinson" heir of his daughter Sally. A Luther Robinson was identified as the court appointed guardian of the child. If anyone has information about any of these people I would be most greatful if you would contact me. Forrest L. I have found Albert in the 1870 and 1880 US census. I found an Albert M. age 5 in the 1850 US census living with Chester & Deborah Fuller in Buckingham, Wayne Co., PA with siblings Sarah M. age 8 and Melvina J. age 2. The ages for Chester and Albert match up to their birth dates, I just can't confirm that this is the same family that I'm looking for, can anyone help. I have also found an Albert Fuller living Nancy & A.A. Babcock in the 1860 US census in Oneonta, Otsego Co., NY, just 2 years before Albert enlisted in the Army and in the same town that he enlisted in. I also need confirmation on this being that he would have been 16 years old at the time and the census says he was 14. Jill St. Croix - posted 09-2002

Grace was married to Wilfred Kenney who we believe was from Mass.. Grace had two sisters (possibly more?) Jane and Mary. We believe that Jane Fuller was married to a (last name) "Diamond" and never had any children. We no nothing about Mary Fuller other then we believe she was the youngest. We know they all grew up in Middletown. Grace may have been married before she married Wilfred? Grace had six children, Charles, William, Robert, Edward, Evelyn and my mother Jane. We DO know that Grace is buried in St. Mary's in Kingston. All of Grace's children were sent to orphanages and foster homes. Although we speak to some of these relatives, they don't remember anything about Grace, her parents or sisters. Please, any info would be greatly appreciated! Doug Ambrose - posted 09-2001
