MCFARLAND FAMILY PHOTOS
On my recent east coast trip (which included a brief visit to Bovina where I was able to see the old McFarland homesteads), I received some old family photos from the guardian of my distant cousin Jean Revell, age 92. Jean and her mother Lulu Cynthia McFarland Morton (daughter of AW McFarland, who left Bovina for Dakota City, IA, and granddaughter of Thomas W McFarland of Bovina) researched the McFarland genealogy back in the 1970s and visited Bovina several times if I understand correctly. • This one is either Margaret Ann "Mide" McFarland (1828-1907) or Elizabeth "Libe" McFarland (1830-1913), probably Elizabeth.
  
  
• Lulu Cynthia McFarland Morton 'Lu' - 1883-1975 (The original owner of many of these photographs. She visited our family a few times in the 1970s.)
  
  
• Andrew William McFarland "AW" - 1835-1905 (Son of Thomas W. McFarland, Father of Lulu ("Lu"). Left Bovina when he finished law school to join several of his cousins in Iowa. He settled in Dakota City, IA. The woman on the right is his wife Cynthia Franklin McFarland and the woman on the left was he sister Martha ("Mattie"); neither of them ever lived in Delaware County.)
  
  
• AW McFarland 1835-1905 and his daughter Lulu Cynthia 'Lu' McFarland Morton 1883-1975 (Lu was born in Chicago, married Robert Morton, and had one child, Jean Morton, in 1914. Jean Morton Revell is 92 years old and living in Maryland. She and her late husband Ken had no children.)

  (Grandson of Robert McFarland of Bovina Son of John S McFarland, who was born in Bovina but moved to New York City to become a police captain. Born in New York, but returned to Bovina when both his parents died in 1844. Lived in Bovina from 1844 through sometime after 1850, at which time he joined 5 or 6 McFarlands who moved west (first to Wisconsin, then to Iowa in 1858). He was a founding citizen of West Bend, IA. My great-great-grandfather.)
