Thomas Davenport (1615-1685): Ancestors, Descendants
SURNAMES
DAVENPORT:
The first 17 generations of Davenports, in the line of Ormus (born about 1086) to William (V) (born about 1563), are listed below with their generational numbers following their surnames so that the older English Davenports can be more readily distinguished from the American Davenports.
For at least the first two generations, the Davenport name was more generally spelled "de Dauenport" or "Dauenport"
DAVENPORT:
Generations 18 to 27 are listed below, without generational numbers following their surnames, from (English) Thomas (Gen 18), the father of Thomas (Early American Settler) (Gen 19) (1615-1685) of Dorchester, Massachusetts to 27th generation Charles James Davenport (1910-1959), buried in the Town of Davenport, Delaware County, New York, Cemetery.
Included below is Davenport, New York's namesake, John Davenport (abt 1776-1829), a descendant of Thomas (Early American Settler) and believed to be a 23rd generation descendant from 1st generation Ormus de Dauenport.
