John Person's will was written on March 20, 1797 and proved on May
17, 1814. A copy of the will was among the articles exhibited at
the Reunion of the More Family at Roxbury, New York in September,

Copy of the last will and testament of John Person of the town of Stamford of the county of Ulster and late of the town of Roxbury in the county of Deleware. In the name of God Amen I John Person of the town of Stamford in the county of Ulster and State of New york knowing and being sensible of the shortness and uncertainty of human life and being now in good health in body sound of mind and memory (blessed be God) do this twentieth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following (viz) I give and bequeath unto Deborah Person otherwise More my Daughter all my lands goods chattels and property of what kind soever & all debts that shall be due on owing to me at the time of my decease the same I confirm to her & her heirs and assigns forever with the following [- - - - - - - ] and incumberence (ie) she is to pay all my just lawful honest debts & fulfill all contracts by me made pay my funeral charges and give unto Elizabeth [- - - - - ] a good decent living in victuals drink washing and lodging and every other necessary of life during the natural life of the said Elizabeth. Said Deborah shall and is hereby requested and commanded to treat said Elizabeth with all the care tenderness and respect due a mother, and I do hereby make constitute and appoint Jonas More the lawful husband of the said Deborah my sole Executor to my said will and testament and hereby invest him with full power and authority to act do and perform everything in my said will contained according to the true intent of meaning thereof.
