JOHN GENOUNG PROBATE FILE
In the name of God Amen.
I John Ganoung of the Town of Roxbury with the County of Delaware considering the uncertianty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory, do make and publish, this my last Will and Testament in the manner and form following.
First- I give unto my beloved wife Abigail Genoung the use and occupancy, and profit of one third of my real estate I may possess at the time of my decease during her natural life.--also I give unto my said wife the use of three cows, and also the use of one half of all the household furniture---and also to have her choice in the room (one of the rooms) of the house I may possess at the time of my decease for her use and occupancy during her natural life which is to be in lieu of her dower.-
Second-I give and bequeath unto my son John R. Genoung all the rest and residue of my personal property I shall leave at my decease-together with the property reserved to my wife as above subject to her use as above during her natural lifeand I also devise and bequeath to said John R. Genoung all the real estate I may have at my decease-Subject however to the payment of all my house debts.---
Third-I give and bequeath unto my son Devoe Genoung the sum of Three Hundred Dollars-
Fourth-I give and bequath unto my son Horace Genoung the sum of Eight Hundred Dollars-
Fifth-I give and bequeath unto my son Kniffen Genoung the sum of Two Hundred Dollars--
Sixth-I give and bequeath unto my son Ebenezer Genoung the sum of One Hundred Dollars--
Seventh- I give and bequeath unto my son Henry Genoung the sum of Ten Dollars--
Eighth-I give and bequeath unto my daughter Hannah Adams Twenty Five Dollars--
Ninth-I give and bequeath unto my Grandson John Adams son of Morris Adams Twenty Five Dollars-
Tenth-I give and bequeath unto my Grandson John G. Genoung son of Devoe Genoung Twenty Five Dollars-
Eleventh- I give and bequeath unto my Grand Daughter Hannah Brandow the sum of Ten Dollars.
And I hereby direct that the several legacies or sums of money be paid to the respective legatees in one year after my decease.---
And lastly, I do hereby appoint my beloved sons Horace Genoung and John R. Genoung executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.-- In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the twentieth day of June in the year of one thousand eight hundred and forty two.
Signed, sealed and published and declared by the above named John Ganoung to be his last will and testiment-in presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the testator.

Codicil to will of John Genoung
Whereas I John Ganoung of Roxbury, Delaware Coounty, having made the above a foregiving instrament on the date as aforsaid at the time aforsaid as my last will and testiment-Now I do by this writing, which I declare to be a codicil to my said will, to be taken as a part thereof-will and direct and order that the sum of Three Hundred Dollars in addition to the sum of Three Hundred Dollars named in the will aforsaid be given to my son Devoe Genoung-and I also order will, bequeath and direct that the sum mentioned in the fourth items (Eight Hundred Dollars) be altered; and instead of said Horace Genoung receiving said sum, I order will and direct that the sum to be paid to said Horace Genoung be Three Hundred and Fifty Dollars-And I also will and direct that Five Dollars in addition to the sum of Twenty Five Dollars named in said will be paid to my daughter Hannah Adams and lastly it is my desire that this present codicil be annexed to and made part of my last will and testament to all intersts and purposes-In writing whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this secord day of May, 1846.
