A copy of the letters of Administration on the Estate of Elisha Cannon

The people of the State of New York by the grace of God ??? And independence to Clark Cannon and Benjamin Cannon in the County of Delaware and State of New York send greeting Whereas Elisha Cannon of the County of Delaware as is alleged lately died in testate have whilst living and at the time of his death had divers good chattels and credits within this State by means whereof the ordering and discharging the ascent this of doth appertain unto us and we being desirous that the goods chattel and credit of the said deceased may be well and faithfully administered, apply and defined of do grant unto sons, the said Clark Cannon and Benjamin Cannon full power by these presents to administer and faithfully dispose of all and singular the goods chattel and credits which unto the said deceased whilst being and at the time of his death did belong and to pay the debts which the said deceased did have, so far as such goods chattels and credits will thereunto extend and the law requires hereby requesting you to make or cause to be made a price and faithful inventory of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said decease which have or shall come to your hand, possession or knowledge and the same so made to exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the office of the Surrogate of the said County of Delaware at or before the Expiration of six calendar months from the date hereof and also to render as perfect and just account of administration when thereunto required and we do by these presents detrude constitute and appoint you the said Clark Cannon and Benjamin Cannon administrators of all and singular the good chattels and credits which were of the said Elisha Cannon at the time of this death. In testimony whereof we have caused the Seal of Office of our said Surrogate to be hereunto affixed Anthony Maurcine Surrogate of the said County of Delaware at Kortright the 27th day of February in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven Hundred and ninety nine and of our Independence the twenty third.

Be it remembered that on the twenty seventh day of February in the year of our Lord On Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Nine Clark Cannon and Benjamin Cannon appeared before me Anthony Marvine Surrogate of the said County of Delaware to whom I administered an other in the records following to wit, san and each of you do ...........That Elisha Cannon late of the town of Walton died without any will as far as you know or believe and that you will well and truly administer all and singular the goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased and pay his Debts as far as his Good Chattels and Credits will ....... Extend and make a just and perfect inventory of all and singular the said goods Chattels and Credits as also a just account of your administration and exhibit the same within the time for that purpose prescribed by Law.
