Terry Homestead, Stamford-in-the-Catskills

On the back of one is written that David Terry built this house for his family and that Sarah Frances Terry was born there in 1842. David was born in 1797 in Vermont. He married Sarah Rickey (I have that Photo) and had several children . From the family oral tradition, I understand this family had several homes and rotated residences. Locations included Rondout and Kingston.

I have an account by a grandson of a story about this David Terry. It says that he built the first brick house in the area and it was still standing in his time. It seems very likely to be the truth because David later went to Kingston and started brick manufacturing. Seems like he learned the process when he transported lumber to Penn. I think his father or a near relative had a business in that area.
