ODWELL - Does anyone have any information on the Trial of John T. Odwell, an attorney in Downsville (1880s-1900s), who was accused of defrauding Civil War Pensioners, including my grandfather, Emory T. Rowe. I realize that John T. Odwell is recognized in various County historical records as a "respected" attorney, but I have in my posession my grandfather's pension papers which indicate the John T. Odwell was tried in New York City on 18 Nov 1884 for "violations of the law committed in Sullivan (and Delaware) County". I also realize that a son of John T. Odwell, Frederick Odwell is enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame as a Cincinnatti Reds ball-player. I would appreciate any info anyone has about John T. Odwell.

O'Neil 1853-1923 that took care of an orphaned boy of 6 years old should be sought. For the Roxbury, NY school system had to be a plus for my grandfather. He graduated from Roxbury HS around 1900 and NYU class of 1904 with a degree of bachelor of science in civil engineering. For a number of years engineer for the board of water supply at the Ashokan reservoir. My father Donald Thomas O'Neill 1908-1948, the first of 7 children, was born nearby in Kingston, NY.
