 Here is a picture I have of South Kortright, NY, sometime is the 1800's. The church in the upper right corner was built about 1833. There are not many homes, just one across from the church and one on up the road. The large buildings in the center is the Andrew's Estate, which now is the Allen Residential Center, a home for boys which is run by the State of New York. The first train came to South Kortright about 1892 and it is not in the picture. The picture shows an old steel or wood bridge. The stone bridge that is there today was completed in 1901. --Richard Nesbitt, October 30, 2000
