Delaware County, NY Genealogy and History Site

First photo is the Hamden Inn. The other building used to be a grocery store/dept store combination.Upstairs in the left corner toward the street was, many years ago, where the town board meetings were held. I remember going there once with my Dad. Also, many years ago, the railroad ran in front of the buildings in Hamden -it was raised above the street. You had to drive up a small incline, over the tracks to the now parking lot. When the tracks were removed, either the raise for the tracks was leveled or the road raised. I am inclined to think that the former was the case because anything else would have thrown the whole village out of kilter - roadwise, that is.
