These are two photos of LaVerne Pearsall at both ends of his life, the first photo was taken around 1878 and the second one in the mid 1940's. He married Nellie Couse and their children were born in Masonville, NY. My Grandmother Helen Pearsall Cooley always spoke of Masonville with great reverence and love.
The baby photograph of LaVerne Pearsall was taken around 1878 in Bainbridge, Chenango County, NY, where he was born. He was born on November 5, 1877 to Urias S. Pearsall and Anna M Fuller. LaVerne with the rest of the Pearsall family moved to the Masonville area in Delaware County in 1880's. While living in the Masonville area, LaVerne courted and married Nellie Couse and had his six children. The 1910 US Census has him listed as living in Masonville with his wife Nellie, Graydon, Helen, Glenn and baby Clarence and WORKING as a dairy farmer. Before the 1918 Draft Registration for World War I, LaVerne had moved with his growing family to South New Berlin, Chenango County, NY. There he continued to make his living as a farmer. In later years he retired from farming and worked as a janitor at the Mt. Upton High School while he was also serving on that School Board. He took great pride in his school and the students. LaVerne died in the Sidney Hospital, Delaware County, NY on November 21, 1949.
