Delaware County, NY Genealogy and History Site

My mother [Donnie Leonard] is pictured in this January 1937 photo, taken at Perch Lake by Mr. Benjamin Sanford. Ben was apparently a clever fellow, as he made this "ICE BUGGY" which was propelled across the frozen surface of the lake with a small gasoline engine which turned a propeller. Ben was courting Donnie at the time, but in the end she married Claude Kelly of Margaretville and helped him run the hotel there. --Jim Kelly, April 22, 2005
