FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF WALTON BURNS TO THE GROUND

The First Baptist Church of Walton, at 55 Townsend Street (corner Platt) was burned to the ground today (January 11, 2011), including the parsonage (which was being used for Sunday school). According to "Walton Yesteryears," the church building was constructed in 1898.

There is a photograph of the church structure ablaze on The Daily Star website (photo on the right, under the advertisement): http://thedailystar.com/localnews/x1162623812/Fire-strikes-Baptist-Church-in-Walton

Also, two photos on the WBNG website:http://www.wbng.com/younews/113269799.html

The Daily Star followed up with a story about the fire and an additional photo (on the right, under the advertisement): http://thedailystar.com/breakingnews/x1162623885/Update-Arrest-made-in-Walton-church-fire

About five years ago, I scanned a photograph of (identified) church members in front of the building. It can be viewed here: http://www.dcnyhistory.org/WaltonBaptistEveryman2.html
