ALEXANDER AND SARAH COUSE
Alexander Couse was born on October 9, 1828 to Peter and Lucinda (Beals) Couse in Masonville, Delaware County, NY. He was the ninth out of eleven children. Alexander spent his entire life in Delaware County and followed in his father's footsteps by becoming a farmer. He married Sarah Rogers on April 15, 1847 and they raised three children: Peter (1850 - 1942), Hattie (1853 - ), and Frank (1858 - 1945).Sarah Rogers was born in 1829 in Delaware County, NY to Harper Rogers (1798 - 1874) and Polly Gurnsey (1800 - 1888). She kept house and raised her family until Alexander retired when their son Frank took over the family farm.
