Asa Collar and Catherine Skinner

Catherine Skinner (1808 - October 5, 1889) was married to Asa Collar (1807 - January 10, 1880). They lived most of their married life in Sidney, Delaware, NY and had three children together: Amanda Z Collar (born 1846); Jeriaha Ann Collar (Crumb) (1848 - 1923) and Milton C Collar (1854 - 1924). Amanda Collar was blind from birth and she never married but had a full rich life. She was good friends with a famous songwriter Fannie Crosby.

Asa Collar (1807 -1880) came from Canada to New York State as a young man and eventually settled in Sidney, Delaware, NY. The Federal Census reports indicate that he lived in Sidney, NY from 1850 until his death in 1880. Asa had two wives and six children. Asa's first wife was Lydia Lamphier (1808 to around 1845), daughter of Elias Lamphier, and their children were Harvey S. (b 1840), Lydia S. (1841 - 1918) and Levi B. (1844- 1901). Asa's second wife was Catherine S Skinner (1808 - 1889), daughter of Benjamin Skinner (1781 - 1859) and Rachel Norton (1781 - 1858). Asa's and Catherine's children were Amanda Z (b 1846), Jeriaha Ann (1848 -1923), and Milton C (1854- 1924).

on left: Milton C Collar was born in Sidney, Delaware, NY on May 25 1854 to Asa and Catherine (Skinner) Collar. He moved to Guilford, Chenango, NY around the turn of the century working as a shoemaker. With his first wife Anna Electa Babcock (1857 - 1885) he had two children Frank and DeEtta C. His second wife was Mary E. (last name unknown) and they had a daughter Anna M.
