While on a visit to the town Clerks office in Margaretville, I found information on a small cemetery. I do not know the name of it, and it is not the Gavett Cemetery, although it contains some Gavetts. It is off Milbrook Road on a road called Ploutz Road go all the way to the end (it is a dead end road) park by the house and it is in the middle of the field. It has a stone wall around it and it is in bad condition. There are only three stones readable. I transcribed the inscriptions as follows. --Submitted by Terry (Green) Wakeman, August 7, 2001
In Memory of Delilah Wife of George W. Gavett who died Nov. 29, 1847 aged 69years 5m and 29 dys
In Memory of George W. Gavett, who died Nov. 2, 1849 aged 72 years 8 m and 9 dys
Infant daughter of J.D. and Eliza Burrow, died Oct. 8, 1835
George W stands for George Washington Gavett, I was thrilled to find this as I have been trying to locate him for quit some time. It never ceases to
amaze me what I find on my trips to Delaware County and I am not from that area.
