Biography of Adson J. Rumsey
Adson J. Rumsey was born in Delaware County NY, December 15, 1847, son of Simeon K. and Miranda (Bogart) Rumsey, who
settled in that county about 1856. They had ten children: Emily Davison, Charles W., Anna E. Cleveland, Frances H., deceased,
Harriet C. Aldrich, Peter B., Adson J., George Y., Edward A., and Sarah E. Simeon K. followed blacksmithing and farming. He
was active in the Thurston (Steuben Co, NY) Methodist-Episcopal church. Adson J. married Henrietta L., daughter of Lewis and
Henrietta (Dean) Hazeltine, of Cameron. Mr. Rumsey is a charter member and first master of the Hedgesville Subordinate Grange
No. 697. He has also been chaplain. In early life Mr. Rumsey followed lumbering, but in 1879 he commenced farming and now
owns 100 acres of land.
