Delaware County, NY Genealogy and History Site

This photo, marked "To Harry From Bertha" in neat block letters, comes from the estate of Rena Ingram, who resided at Long Flat, Delaware County, from her birth in October 1889 until circa 1915. The photo measures 1.75" x 2.75," and it is mounted on card-stock. The photographer is identified as "Kinch Bros., Walton, NY."

Although Bertha did not include her surname, this photograph is most likely that of Bertha Skinner, a Hancock-area school classmate of Rena and her brother, Harry Ingram. Bertha was born in April 1890, the daughter of Maria and Elvin Skinner. The Skinners resided in Hancock until the early 1900s, when they evidently moved to Walton. Bertha died at the age of 16: she is buried in the Walton Cemetery, alongside her parents.
