Another Stamford boy who gave his life during WWI. Roscoe lists as a Stamford boy because that was his residence at the time of his enlistment, but he spent all but a couple of years of his short life in Roxbury. In the 1915 Roxbury census he is a farm hand living with and working for Edward Kelly. Roscoe was born September 11, 1893 in Roxbury to Peter and Mary E. (Harris) German. He had one brother Melvin A. who was 15 years younger. On May 26, 1917 he was married in Stamford to Clara J. Hichcock of Stamford; daughter of Daniel and Harriet (Mattice) Hitchcock. He and Clara had one son Roscoe H. born October 8, 1918, so Roscoe never saw his son.
